Early Start CT
Early Start CT is Connecticut’s state-funded early care and education program. It was created to improve family access to early learning opportunities and to bring several state-funded early childhood programs into one streamlined system.
- Limited grant-funded spaces may be available.
- Eligibility can include factors such as Connecticut residency, family size, and household income.
- Families may be asked to share income and household information during the inquiry process.
Care 4 Kids
Care 4 Kids is Connecticut’s child care assistance program for eligible low- to moderate-income families. It helps families pay for child care while parents or guardians work, attend school, or participate in approved training.
- Eligibility may depend on income, family size, residency, and approved activity.
- Families may still have a family fee or costs not covered by the program.
- Parents can apply or manage their case through the Care 4 Kids parent portal.
NAEYC Accredited
NAEYC Accreditation is a national quality standard for early learning programs. It reflects a program’s commitment to developmentally appropriate education, strong teaching practices, family partnerships, and continuous improvement.
- Focuses on children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Looks at curriculum, teaching practices, classroom environment, health, safety, and relationships with families.
- Gives families a helpful framework for understanding what quality early childhood education can look like.
